Demonstrating a capacity for leadership, he was commissioned into the Officer Corps where his skills in leading high performance were further developed. During his military career Sean has been responsible for the selection and training of the UK's elite Royal Marine Commandos and has lead Commando Troops on operations across the globe.
As a record breaking explorer Sean has been a pioneering figure in pushing the envelope of polar adventure, developing high performing teams to achieve some of the most remarkable polar journeys of recent times. Sean has planned, managed and led over twenty high risk polar expeditions with more than 700 days living beyond the Arctic and Antarctic Circles and skiing more than 6,000km earning himself the nickname 'The Ice Man™' along the way.
Sean is a successful author and has written four books about his various Polar adventures. He wrote ‘No Ordinary Tourist’ about his ski journey across Iceland from west to east coast. Sean has also released a leadership book called ‘Leading High Performance Teams’ he uses practical examples that people can learn from. His other books are ‘Polar Quest Vol I’ and ‘Polar Quest Vol II’ about his North and South Pole Expeditions.
In his speeches, Sean focuses on the leadership aspect of his polar expeditions and his ability to motivate people, even in life threatening conditions. His experiences have taught him about teamwork, leadership management and pushing yourself to the limit; all of which he can apply to a working environment.
