Introducing Hypercompetition
Richard D’Aveni is the author of several highly influential articles in the Harvard Business Review and MIT/Sloan Management Review, as well as Hypercompetition (The Free Press, Simon & Schuster) which coined the phrase and became a global bestseller. Fortune described it as "a modern-day analogue to The Art of War". His work is credited with creating a new paradigm in the field of strategy based on temporary advantages and constant disruption of rivals– using rapid maneuvering rather than defensive barriers.
Reinventing Strategy
He is also the author of Strategic Supremacy (The Free Press, Simon & Schuster) and Beating the Commodity Trap (Harvard Business Press). These works are credited with creating new tools, frameworks and maps that help firms and governments define their playing fields and determine their positioning on those playing fields using spheres of influence.
Strategic Capitalism
Richard D’Aveni’s 2012 book, Strategic Capitalism (McGraw-Hill) applies his ideas and tools to one of the biggest challenges facing America: the rise of China. Based on years of research, Strategic Capitalism persuasively describes the new realities for global capitalism and offers practical strategies to succeed amid the hyper competition between powerful nations.
Dynamic Strategy
“D’Aveni is strategy’s answer to realpolitik. The champion of dynamic strategy over static analysis, he is a battlefield general in a world dominated by Ivy League theorists,” says The (London) Times. Tom Peters, co-author of In Search Of Excellence, says: “Rich’s work is uniformly first rate.”
